Chiltern Railways warn customers of widespread disruption next week

Train operator Chiltern Railways has warned customers to only travel on its services if absolutely essential next week.

Between 13 - 17 December and 19 - 20 December, no Chiltern Railways services will run north of Banbury.

On 18 December, no Chiltern Railways services are expected to run.

On strike days (13, 14, 16, 17 December), services will start later and finish much earlier than usual. Services will run between approximately 8AM-4PM.

On 15 December, there also be a late start to services, but they will run later into the evening.

Owing to further industrial action between 18 December and 2 January, Chiltern Railways are expecting significant disruption throughout this period. The expectation is that there will be a limited availability of staff, and that there will be a risk of short-notice cancellations. Chiltern Railways will endeavour to give customers 48 hours’ notice in the event of service cancellations.

On 18 December, no Chiltern Railways services are expected to run.

On 19 and 20 December, services will start later and finish much earlier than usual. Services will run between approximately 8AM-4PM.

Chiltern Railways will update customers on planned service levels for after 20 December in due course. It is likely that this level of disruption will continue.

During times of operation, there will be four trains per hour:

  • Marylebone to stations to Oxford Parkway (and vice-versa)
  • Marylebone to stations to Aylesbury (via High Wycombe, and vice-versa)
  • Marylebone to stations to Banbury (and vice-versa)
  • Aylesbury Vale Parkway to stations to Amersham (and vice-versa)

Customers seeking to travel to Leamington Spa or Birmingham will be able to change at Banbury for northbound CrossCountry services.

If travelling is a necessity, customers should check the Chiltern Railways website and app before they travel. Approximate start and end times are applicable to London Marylebone, and these times will vary along our rotes.
