Aylesbury (1)

Two days of journey changes between Aylesbury and London Marylebone start tomorrow

Customers planning to travel between Aylesbury and London Marylebone over the next two days are being warned of changes to services while essential engineering work takes place.

Urgent engineering work, which will help provide better and more reliable journeys for passengers and freight services, means the railway will be closed during the day on Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 March in the Aylesbury area.

Network Rail’s teams will be replacing and testing signalling cables and carrying out essential maintenance to help keep the railway safe for the passenger and freight services which use the line.

The vital work will predominantly affect Chiltern Railways services and journeys will take longer than usual with bus replacement services in operation between 7.45am and 3.45pm on both days.

Rail replacement buses will run between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Amersham (for connection with London Metropolitan Line services), and between Aylesbury and Princes Risborough to help with journeys.

Martin Colmey, operations director for Network Rail Central route, said: “I am sorry for the disruption caused while we complete these essential signalling repairs. We know there is never a good time to close the railway but this urgent work will help to keep journeys through this area more reliable for years to come.

“If you're planning to travel, please plan ahead and check before you travel for the latest journey information and travel advice.”

Michael Stewart, commercial and customer strategy director at Chiltern Railways, said: “I would like to thank customers for their patience as our services in the Aylesbury area will be disrupted on Tuesday and Wednesday while Network Rail carries out this essential work.

“Please check your journeys ahead of travelling as they may be subject to disruption and involve a rail replacement bus.”
