Travel advice for Birmingham City supporters on Sunday 13 April

Travel advice for Birmingham City supporters attending the Vertu Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 13 April has been announced by train operators in the region.

Chiltern Railways, Avanti West Coast, and London Northwestern Railway have shared tips for supporters heading to the match.

For Birmingham City supporters travelling from south of the city:

  • Chiltern Railways is operating services between Warwick Parkway and London Marylebone (stopping at Wembley Stadium)

For Birmingham City supporters travelling from other areas of the city and the city centre:

  • London Northwestern Railway is operating services between Birmingham New Street and London Euston
  • Avanti West Coast is operating services between Birmingham New Street and London Euston

Chiltern Railways’ services to Wembley Stadium will start at Warwick Parkway, calling at Leamington Spa and Banbury. No Chiltern Railways train services will be in operation from Birmingham Moor Street, Solihull, Dorridge, Hatton, Lapworth or Warwick. Free parking will be available at Warwick Parkway, Leamington Spa and Banbury throughout the day.

The same routes will be available for Birmingham City supporters heading back to the West Midlands for their return journeys.

Where possible, Birmingham City supporters are advised to purchase tickets and collect pre-purchased paper tickets ahead of the day.

Customers are advised to check their journeys ahead of travelling, plan ahead and purchase tickets in advance as services are expected to be extremely busy.

Lucy Wootton, Head of the Grand Railway Collaboration, which represents the rail industry in the region, said:

“We have worked collaboratively with rail operators in the West Midlands to advise Birmingham City supporters of rail options when heading to Wembley, several weeks before the match. Rail services will be in operation to London from Birmingham New Street and Warwick Parkway and there will be a similar number of services for return journeys.

“Please plan your trip in advance and choose the route which is best for you. Consider travelling on later services which will lower the demand on earlier services, when a lot of supporters tend to travel.”

Finalised train timetables will be loaded to online journey planners and more information on travel advice for the Vertu Trophy Final will be announced in the coming weeks.
