PRESS CALL Tuesday February 12th - Chiltern Railways fast-track coffee cup recycling at stations

Chiltern Railways, together with partners Simply Cups, is launching a cup recycling scheme on Tuesday Feb 12th at Marylebone station. This will be the first permanent cup recycling scheme at a major transport hub anywhere in the UK (and possibly globally). Initially launching at Marylebone station, where there are already 5 specially-designed bins with 5 more added on launch day.

We’ll be doing some customer engagement on the day where we’ll also be giving away some of Simply Cups’ rCUPs – the world’s first reusable cup made from recycled cups - to stimulate both recycling and reusables. We'll also have Simply Cups' mascot Cupbert - a giant coffee cup who will be interacting with members of the public at the station. The benefits are very straight forward; less clogging of train bins, making the job of cleaning easier and segregation of waste is better to facilitate recycling - not just of cups but of other materials too! It is hoped that this will stimulate other rail companies / transport hubs to follow suit.

Senior executives from both Chiltern Railways and Simply Cups will be available for interview throughout the day.
