Four days to go until Railway 200 “Inspiration” train visits Birmingham Moor Street
The countdown is on for the visit of the Railway 200 exhibition train (Inspiration) to Birmingham next week.
Inspiration will be based at Birmingham Moor Street between Tuesday 8 and Thursday 10 July (10:00 – 16:00) and tickets are free to book for the public.
Inspiration is a unique train touring the country this year to celebrate the 200-year anniversary of the modern railway. This will be the only opportunity to visit the train in Birmingham, and just the second of 60 stops the train is making across 2025 and 2026.
Inspiration features four unique and interactive carriages with different themes. These include a carriage highlighting landmark moments in the development of the railway and another promoting Science, Technology and Engineering careers in rail.
Chiltern Railways has also collaborated with rail partners in the West Midlands to tell the story of the future of rail in the West Midlands, including improvements proposed under the Midlands Rail Hub scheme.
Zach Bailey, Regional Growth Manager at Chiltern Railways, said:
“There are only a few days to go until the people of Birmingham get to visit this unique train which celebrates the 200-year anniversary of the modern railway.
“Whether you have just finished your exams and thinking about your career options, or you work in a local office and want to learn more about rail improvements in the West Midlands, the exhibition train offers something for all ages.
“We are delighted to have partnered with Midlands Connect, West Midlands Rail Executive and Heart of England Community Rail Partnership to tell the story of the future of rail travel in the West Midlands.”
Jack Pickering, from Network Rail's Central route, said:
"It's fantastic to have Inspiration at Birmingham Moor Street after a successful visit to the Severn Valley Railway. The West Midlands is the heart of Britain's railway so to have this special train make its first two stops here is great news for the region."
