Customers asked to check their journey ahead of industrial action affecting Chiltern Railways services between 6-11 May

Train operator Chiltern Railways is urging customers to check before they travel ahead of industrial action by the ASLEF union between Monday 6 and Saturday 11 May.

The industrial action consists of rolling strike days across most train operators in England, alongside an overtime ban which will reduce services significantly.

On Monday 6 May, customers are being asked to only travel if absolutely essential. The industrial action, combined with the closure of the line between Birmingham New Street and London Euston, means that an already reduced Chiltern Railways service is likely to be significantly busier than usual.

On Wednesday 8 May, due to the strike action, no Chiltern Railways services will operate on any route.

The overtime ban will further affect Chiltern services on Tuesday 7 May, Thursday 9 May, Friday 10 May and Saturday 11 May.

During this time, a reduced Chiltern Railways service will run, with all services finishing slightly earlier than usual. On these dates, customers should check their full journey before travelling.

On Saturday 11 May, customers should note that no trains will call at Wembley Stadium station all day for the FA Trophy/Vase events at Wembley Stadium.

Solihull Moors fans should be aware that a significantly reduced timetable is operating, and trains are expected to be very busy. If customers opt to travel, they may not be able to board their preferred train, as queuing systems will be in place at Birmingham Moor Street and Solihull before the match.

Solihull Moors supporters can travel into central London via Birmingham International or New Street stations with Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern, for onward tube connections to Wembley Stadium. Services are likely to be busier than usual.

A normal service is expected to resume on Sunday 12 May, although an amended and enhanced timetable will be in place for the Women’s FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.

Throughout this period, customers should check before they travel on the Chiltern Railways website or app. Customers can find out more about how this industrial action will affect their local station by visiting www.chilternrailways.co.uk/strike.
