Chiltern Railways offers free travel for veterans and military personnel to attend Remembrance services this weekend

Chiltern Railways, alongside the wider rail industry, is offering free travel for serving military personnel and veterans attending Remembrance events this weekend.

Serving military personnel and veterans travelling to London to attend Remembrance services can travel free of charge on Chiltern Railways services to London Marylebone on Saturday 7 November or Sunday 8 November 2026.

In addition, by being in uniform or showing the same ID which is accepted for free travel, a complimentary hot drink will be offered to veterans travelling to or from London Marylebone at Starbucks in the station on Saturday and Sunday.

Free return travel from London will be available on Sunday 8 November 2026 only.

Michael Stewart, Commercial and Customer Strategy Director at Chiltern Railways, said:

“Remembrance weekend is an important opportunity for us to come together and honour those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

“We are proud to support serving military personnel and veterans by providing free travel, helping them attend services and pay tribute to those who have served.

“We are also pleased to offer veterans a complimentary hot drink at London Marylebone this weekend, providing a warm welcome and a small gesture of thanks in recognition of their service.”

The free travel offer is available to serving military personnel in uniform or in possession of a current MOD90 Ministry of Defence-issued identity card. Veterans can show a Veterans Railcard, Veterans Oyster card, Ministry of Defence-issued Veterans ID or other appropriate proof of veteran status.

Bereaved family members must carry their named complimentary ticket and photographic ID to show staff if asked.
