Chiltern Railways give Birmingham Children’s Hospital families a magical day on the Polar Express
Chiltern Railways has created more special memories for Birmingham Children’s Hospital families by organising a special trip on Birmingham’s very own Polar Express. In partnership with Vintage Trains, families were given a special golden ticket and welcomed aboard the steam train at Birmingham Moor Street station.
The group were given a dedicated carriage where scenes from the movie came to life whilst journeying to the North Pole. The children were thrilled to get the chance to spend time with Santa Claus as they were entertained by the dancing chefs onboard. Those attending also received a Chiltern Railways goody bag which included a Christmas colouring book and colouring pencils.
Dave Penney, Managing Director of Chiltern Railways said: “We were delighted to work with Vintage Trains to create such a special day for families using Birmingham Children’s Hospital. At Chiltern, it’s incredibly important to us to support the local communities along our route and it was a privilege to welcome the families onboard the Polar Express. We hope that everyone had a magical experience which will stay with them for years to come.”
Miranda Williams, Public Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “Christmas can be a difficult time of year when you have a poorly child, so we’re so grateful to Chiltern Railways and Vintage Trains for gifting such an incredible experience for our sick kids and their families, to help restore a little normality in the festive period. All of our children had a magical time and we know they will remember those special moments for years to come.”
