Chiltern customers urged to check before they travel ahead of industrial action between 3-8 July
Train operator Chiltern Railways has urged customers to check before they travel next week, as industrial action (overtime ban) by the ASLEF union between Monday 3 July and Saturday 8 July will result in amended timetables across the network.
Service frequency will be reduced on some routes, and services on all routes will finish earlier than usual. Customers are advised to expect busier journeys and check journeys in full before travelling.
On Saturday 8 July in particular, there will be a significant reduction in service, meaning that the operator is urging customers to only travel if absolutely essential on this day.
Chiltern Railways will be unable to service the Blur concert at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 8 July. No trains will call at Wembley Stadium station all day. Customers seeking to travel to the Blur concert should use London Underground services to get to Wembley Stadium.
Throughout the week, where possible, the operator has added extra carriages to services that are running to ensure that there as many seats as possible for travelling customers.
Reducing the number of services while adding carriages to those that are running proactively limits the risk of on-the-day cancellations, and aims to offer confidence and certainty to customers who are seeking to travel.
If customers are intending to travel on Chiltern services next week, they are advised to ensure they check their full journey ahead of time – as usual services may have been removed.

Monday 3 – Friday 7 July
- Trains will be busier than usual and there are timetable changes across the network. Please check before you travel, as services will finish earlier than usual.
- A limited service will be in operation, structured as follows:
1 train per hour Marylebone - stations to Birmingham Moor Street (and vice-versa).
2 trains per hour Marylebone - stations to Oxford (and vice-versa).
1 train per hour Princes Risborough - stations to Aylesbury (and vice-versa).
Shuttle service Leamington Spa - stations to Stratford Upon Avon (and vice-versa) for most of the day until approximately 19.00.
1 train per hour Marylebone - stations to Aylesbury Vale Parkway (via Amersham; and vice-versa).
Additional services will operate during the morning and evening peak periods.
Saturday 8 July
- Trains will be busier than usual and there are timetable changes across the network. Please only travel if absolutely essential. Services will finish earlier than usual.
- Wembley Stadium will not be served all day.
- A limited service will be in operation structured as follows:
1 train per hour Marylebone - stations to Birmingham Moor Street (and vice-versa).
1 train per hour Marylebone - stations to Oxford (and vice-versa).
1 train per hour Marylebone - stations to Aylesbury (via High Wycombe; and vice-versa).
Shuttle service Leamington Spa - stations to Stratford Upon Avon (and vice-versa) for most of the day until approximately 19.00.
1 train per hour Amersham - stations to Aylesbury Vale Parkway (and vice-versa).
