Advice for Chiltern customers travelling on Sunday 3 May
Major improvements works will be carried out on the West Coast Main Line on Sunday 3rd May with various operators running reduced and heavily-amended services.
Although their services are unaffected by engineering works, Chiltern Railways’ network will be the only direct route for passengers travelling between Birmingham and London on this date. In order to provide sufficient capacity for essential workers while maintaining social distancing rules, Chiltern will be operating an amended timetable. As a result, journeys may take longer than usual and customers may have to change trains to reach their destination.
Due to these engineering works, rail replacement buses will operate for local journeys between Warwick Parkway, Hatton, Lapworth and Dorridge and between Banbury, Kings Sutton and Bicester North.
The government has advised the public against non-essential travel and to only travel if their journey is necessary. If customers absolutely must travel, Chiltern Railways advises the following:
- Purchase tickets in advance via the app or the website to save time at stations and guarantee the best value fare;
- Check the timetable for amended times before travel;
- Customers are asked to social distance by keeping 2 metres between themselves and fellow passengers on board, in stations, and when going through station barriers.
